Habitat homes are built to be simple, decent, and affordable. They are modest in size, with square footage dependent on the number of people in the household. Sizes typically range from 900 square feet to 1,470 square feet. Our homes are energy efficient and currently being built to the Evergreen Sustainable Development Standard and we are working to achieve Energy Star certification - both of which measure at least 15% better than Washington State Energy Code!
Our homes are not custom built; they are built to be simple, decent, safe, and affordable. However, our partner families do get to select from a few choices for flooring, cabinetry, and exterior paint colors. Volunteer labor and donations makes it possible for Habitat for Humanity to serve more families by keeping the overall cost of construction low and to provide affordable mortgages to our homeowner families.
